3:3 “How Law Firms Get Clients with TV Style Videos”

Hi lawyer friends, this episode 3 of a 3 part series about law firm video. Thank you so much for joining me thus far!!!!

As usual if we’re talking about video… I’m hoping you’ll watch the video related to this post!

Need Some Privacy to Watch Videos?

Ok…. So…..

This is a lil’ off topic, but I bought some Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones for just about all my friends and family.

(And no I don’t sell these! It’s a gesture, since your work involves deep thinking.)

I’ve reordered these headphones every time I think of someone who would benefit from privacy and quiet (and that’s just about everyone).

I was in the Airport in Amsterdam, and got impulsive! This was one of the best things I’ve done in a long while.

Sometimes you need some privacy, and having your own sound environment translates nicely to privacy…

and (ulterior motive showing here) you can watch my video!

Ok! Back to my regularly scheduled valuable lawyer marketing tip about video production…

In this 3 part series I’m sharing about:

Each episode I’ll talk about:

  1. What production quality works
  2. What the content should be
  3. How that style works to meet new clients.

Does Your Video Production Company have Real Data (and Experience) about What Works?

Many smart law firms have a special relationship with someone like us who not only film, but run the ads so we know what actually performs.

So let’s jump into this subject based on real data and a whole lot of experience:

What Production Quality Do You Need for TV Style Videos?

TV style ads need to be very high quality.

You need to write your scripts so they hit the 30 second mark. You also should use storyboards (and/or shot lists) so you can map out all your shots ahead of time.

Often, to make TV ads really hit the mark we’ll need lots of location shots and it takes a few days of filming to get it all put together.

(If you’re enjoying your new Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones and watching my video (with great audio)…

Here is where I’m showing you Mike Sullivan’s funny TV spot from last year shot on my deck in Sausalito on location)…

What Content gets Clients with TV Style Videos?

When writing your scripts, make sure it’s entertaining because TV style ads even when used online, are meant to go out to a wide audience.

And in order to engage your ideal clients in your practice area, (with them knowing it’s an advertisement), you’ll need to really pop above the rest of the noise out there – with something truly entertaining.

These entertaining lawyer TV style ads get clients best when they’re blatantly entertaining.

They work well on YouTube and TV because they are interruption based and YouTube and TV support that kind of interruption format.

How Do You Get clients with TV Style Videos? (Hint: Infotainment)

If you can, (and it takes a lot of thought and creativity),  blend informational, educational and entertaining into one format if possible.

I think they call this “info-tainment“…

(Here’s where I cut away … if you’re watching the video, I’m showing you Mike Sullivan’s entertaining, yet educational TV spot from last year with my dog Winnie (when she was just a puppy) is eating the Social Security Disability Denial.)

Even though you’re running your TV style ad to a wide audience, your potential client will need some educating.

So if you can entertain them while educating that’s the perfect blend for getting clients.

This is because most people have no idea what you do!

I find with my data that educating is always the best and safest form of marketing and gets you the most clients every time no matter what the format.

A Few Testimonials

I have worked on a number of projects with Mary. Mary built a stunning website for the San Diego market which she then search optimized.  It was different and original rather than something cheap looking from an iphone. We wanted the ability to film anytime. Mary and her team came to us on site and built a video studio. She taught us about gear, sound, lighting, scripting, presentation and how to present on camera. When her program was completed she left the tools and know-how to produce professional in-house marketing videos for any platform at anytime. Mary is a pro and you will love working with her.

I met Mary Cary when she was speaking at a Conference. She said YouTube was the 2nd biggest search engine in the world. I wasn’t utilizing the second biggest search engine in the world. We filmed over a hundred videos with Mary. She built our website when we had 2 employees, at this point in time, we have over 120 employees! Thank you!

Go Media Marketing has top class support, Ned helped me understand how using video matters. Once we grew bigger we had Go Media Marketing do our videos – & blog for us. Mary Cary came to film us in Nebraska and I also came out to film with GoMedia Marketing in Sausalito. I stayed in San Francisco. Thank you! Highly recommended!

I have had GoMedia Marketing film engineering firms all over the United States for us all around the area of STEM Careers. We also have them build our websites and marketing strategies. Mary Cary went with a crew to film Dean Kamen and his young engineers in New Hampshire twice. We’re very happy with their kindness and help.
