By the way, this is my third Google Maps video/post in a row. I’m moving to the a new subject next week (and removing the low price on the course).

Remember to check out Chris Munley’s interview and his invitation to the Atlas Conference with a deep discount. (Neither Chris or I make money off the conference. He loves the connection with other firms and sharing his best new ways to practice law, and I love it when I’m a speaker, or hanging out at the conference! This year I’m hanging out.)

Lawyers! This is how Google Maps gets you Free Clients (3rd and Final Post in this Series)

Hopefully you’re practicing law and unaware how important Google Maps is to you. I like thinking you’re blissfully happy knowing that people call and you get clients regularly. But that may not be the case.

You may not know that one of the hardest things for a law firm these days is losing their google maps listing if they’re already on the top.

WHO WILL FIND VALUE FROM THIS INFO?

If you’re already on the top of the Google Maps listings it’s still important to know how you got there and how to keep that listing.

If you’re not in any valuable searches, this is important to you as well… but why?

Being in the top three listings (showing up in a search for your practice area and geographic location) not only introduces you to new clients, but if you don’t need new clients, it also ads legitimacy to your practice. (even for me). Here’s what I mean:

ADDED LEGITIMACY TO YOUR PRACTICE

I recently needed an estate planning lawyer. Usually I work with plaintiffs lawyers and didn’t have anyone handy.

Well I contacted a lawyer who came up in the top 3 maps listing in my search. I read his reviews, and had a consultation with him. It turned out I didn’t get good advice from him, but if I had, that would have been my choice. This could have meant a lot of work from my family.

So understand, this is not about your clients finding their way to your office. This is about meeting free clients because your information is easily available.

HOW VALUABLE IS GOOGLE MAPS?

Recently I told a story of my client, who heavily relied on his Google Maps listing being in the top three under his practice area, and how he lost his Google maps listing moving from number 3 in what’s known as the three pack, to number seven. (The 3 pack is the top three listings that come up under the most valuable searches)

Being #7 rarely (if ever) gets any law firms clients. My pal/client’s practice dried up completely since we weren’t doing any other marketing.

How can Google Maps get you free clients?

It’s easy, if you’re in that Google maps three pack, they will put in your practice area and the word lawyer and you’ll have your perfectly filled out optimized Google Maps listing waiting for them with reviews, videos, 360s of your office and more.

Without being optimized, your firm will likely drop off the maps listing, or not show up at all.

Even with Google’s brand new algorithm update (to help local businesses get results), Google will allow you to show up “under” the Google Maps listings. This isn’t the best. The best is being in the top 3 Google Maps listings.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION
Getting and staying at the top means when you fill out your Google Maps listing you’ll want to use what is called Search Engine Optimization or SEO. I don’t want to bore you but this is crucial.

Agencies like mine have long used SEO to get your websites, and videos to the top of searches on Google and YouTube. (I love SEO…. but I am a proud San Fran bay area nerd). Anything you want to have “rank” well on Google must be Search Engine Optimized.

3 TIPS FOR FREE CLIENTS WITH GOOGLE MAPS BUSINESS LISTINGS

First I’d like you to understand my disclaimer here.

These are 3 valuable tips – but to truly get top results in high competition areas, like your practice area of Social Security Disability, or Personal Injury, Criminal, Family – etc. (working with individuals), you need to do everything available to you to “optimize” your Google Maps listing not just these 3 tips. (Get my online course it’s cheap today).

Here are my 3 tips for getting free clients with your Google Maps listing:

  1. Search Optimize everything on your maps listing so you’ll be indexed properly
  2. Build what they’re calling a website in your Google Maps listing and
  3. Post regularly, if the competition is steep in your geographic area post twice daily

p.s.
After editing this video we noticed that I said something that was a typo!!! I said – “If you’re number seven in the maps three pack” – I meant to say “if you’re number seven in Google maps business listing …” (apologies)

Go Media Marketing has top class support, Ned helped me understand how using video matters.

Once we grew bigger we had Go Media Marketing do our videos – & blog for us.

Mary Cary came to film us in Nebraska and I also came out to film with GoMedia Marketing in Sausalito. I stayed in San Francisco.

Thank you! Highly recommended!

I have worked on a number of projects with Mary. Mary built a stunning website for the San Diego market which she then search optimized.  It was different and original rather than something cheap looking from an iphone. We wanted the ability to film anytime. Mary and her team came to us on site and built a video studio. She taught us about gear, sound, lighting, scripting, presentation and how to present on camera. When her program was completed she left the tools and know-how to produce professional in-house marketing videos for any platform at anytime. Mary is a pro and you will love working with her.

I have had GoMedia Marketing and Productions film engineering firms all over the United States for us all around the area of STEM Careers.

We also have GoMedia Marketing & Productions build our websites and marketing strategies.

Mary Cary went with a crew to film Dean Kamen and his young engineers in New Hampshire twice. We’re very happy with their kindness and help.

I met Mary Cary when she was speaking at a Conference. She said YouTube was the 2nd biggest search engine in the world.

I wasn’t utilizing the second biggest search engine in the world. We filmed over a hundred videos with Mary.

She built our website when we had 2 employees, at this point in time, we have over 120 employees! Thank you!
