And now (*insert announcer) … on with our important law firm Google Maps tips…

Hey, it’s Mary Cary again, your friendly and prolific legal marketing director, strategist, website developer and video production director.

You might think “Google My Business” is a weird name, and a hassle. But “Google My Business” is the platform name, and how we access the valuable Google Maps listing. And we all must “feed the hungry Google Monster” (to quote my attorney friend Adolfo in Arizona).

Google has made the maps application extremely important these days… perhaps more important than your website in some ways.

In fact, we handle a pile of law firm Google Maps listings by posting every day, chatting 24/7 with potential clients (and actual clients with questions about their cases) and answering calls throughout the days, weekends and evenings. It’s a real honor.

At first, when Google Maps first offered chat, people weren’t really reaching out much through Google Maps. But now, people seem really comfortable talking to law firms through our Maps listings.

We get chat notifications (for our law firm clients) on our phones and email. Since everyone here in GoMedia Marketing & Productions gets these notifications, if someone is asleep (because we’re in a few time-zones) or busy doing something else, another of us will jump on it!

We bring in an average of 27 signed clients (not just “leads”) a month from Google Maps chat for just one law firm.

Does bringing in new clients seem important to your firm?

Questions for you:

  • How much time, talent and attention does your firm pay to getting new clients from your Google Maps listing?
  • Are you set up to take messages and chat 24/7 with potential clients who need help on your Google Maps listing?
  • Are you tracking your data on Google Maps?
  • And most importantly, are you in the Google Maps 3 pack for your town and practice area so they can find your firm when they don’t know you otherwise?

GOOGLE MAPS 3 PACK LOOKS LIKE THIS:
When you put in your geographic area and practice area, your law firm should be here:

GOOGLE MAPS CHAT LOOKS LIKE THIS:
While I was writing this post someone popped in on chat so I thought I’d show you what it looks like:

Google Maps is a useful tool for law firms because it can help you to:

  1. Provide directions to your office: Google Maps allows clients to easily get directions to the law firm’s office, which can be especially helpful for those who are unfamiliar with the area.
  2. Showcase your location: Google Maps allows law firms to showcase their location on an interactive map, which can help clients to find them more easily and can also serve as a visual representation of the firm’s location for marketing purposes.
  3. Improve local SEO: By claiming and optimizing their Google Maps listing, law firms can improve their local search engine optimization (SEO) and increase their chances of appearing in local search results. This can be especially important for attracting new clients in the local area.
  4. Enhance your online presence: Having a presence on Google Maps can help law firms to enhance their overall online presence and improve their visibility to potential clients. This can be especially important in today’s digital age, where many people rely on the internet to find and research businesses.

But a quick Google Maps caveat; it takes a while to get into the Google Maps 3 pack if you’re in a bigger city or the competition is stiff.

I’ve had 100% success with my law firm clients, but it sometimes took us a full year of every day attention when the competition was savvy and working as hard as we were to hit the top 3 sweet spot.

Let me know if you need help with your Google Maps listing! We can do it for you or teach you how: Mary@GoMediaMarketing.com
