What is the top mistake lawyers make with video conferencing?
You probably didn’t get into law to be on camera, yet here we are, everyone seems to have to be on camera for one reason or another! Being on camera is hard to avoid.

Worst Video Conferencing Mistake

The worst mistake I’ve seen is not taking time to set up your shot. In other words, practice makes perfect!

I’m a rock musician and I would never get on stage not knowing if the amp was going to work, or if my guitar had all 6 strings.

I also need to understand where I’m supposed to be on stage, where the lighting is, and how to best present myself.

The same is true for you with your zoom hearings. Have you ever seen a movie set? Do you know how many people it takes to create a beautiful video?

Well, now you’re faced with creating video! Please practice (PEOPLE)! Check ahead of time that everything is going to work well.

QUICK USABLE TIPS

  • Turn on your video app prior to meeting

  • Check to see your background is properly staged

  • Make sure you’re well lit

  • Be sure your sound works. It’s best to use an external audio source. Even earbuds can sound better than the computer audio.

With Zoom, you can even film a little bit ahead of time and see how it looks.
