LAWYERS: How Can Your (Zoom) Video Conference Tell Your Story?

How to Convince/Persuade with a Video Conference Call

You might be wondering how to convince a judge with a video call, or a client, or maybe at some point (if not now) a jury!

This video contains usable tips, and an invite to a low cost Zoom and cell phone Mini Course just for lawyers. Hi! Mary Cary here again, legal marketing specialist, helping law firms grow and streamline their practices since 2008.

How can your Zoom Video Tell a Story?

My daughter who works in Hollywood always tells me two things.

  1. I work in video production more than any one person in Hollywood, which is because of my niche working with you lawyers…. and
  2. Video is the most consumed art form on the planet. So we’re all pretty used to watching video and expect a lot.

Now you have to be a director of your Video hearings. You already may be a trial lawyer knowing the art of persuasion.

So how do you best tell a convincing story with your zoom video hearing?

QUICK USABLE TIPS

  • Ask yourself what you want the viewer to feel about a client? Maybe you want the judge to realize how bad things have gotten for your client and they’re on camera. Don’t make any effort to make things look well lit, or upbeat. Remember colors tell a story.

  • What do you want them to feel about you? Do you want to disarm them with a likable demeanor? Angle the camera slightly above you so your eyes are wide open and you’re not looking down on them.

So what is the easiest practice area to get clients on facebook? Practice areas where they know they need a lawyer and it’s urgent! (Facebook is great for potential clients who need more educating too! It’s just not as easy.)
