LAWYERS: “Why Does Empathy Matter (and Get More Clients)?”

Hi Lawyers, why does empathy matter when creating marketing or talking to potential clients, or even your existing clients? This will be a quick empathy reminder! But first a lil’ personal moment:

Enough about us! LOL… let’s talk about you – which is always more important and fun!

Hey it’s Mary Cary again with another tip… your legal marketing director, website developer and video production expert.

We all want to jump right into solving the problem when we know how. But I learned with my most valued relationships that taking a moment to understand how someone truly feels relaxes everyone and builds trust. This is true especially as a law firm, or in law firm marketing (and I have the data to prove it).

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person. In the context of a law firm, empathy is important because it helps lawyers connect with their clients on a deeper level and build trust and rapport. When lawyers show empathy, they demonstrate that they are genuinely interested in their clients and their concerns, and that they care about their well-being.

Empathy is especially important in the legal field because clients may be going through difficult or stressful situations, such as a wrongful death, an injury, divorce, a criminal charge, or a financial crisis. Showing empathy can help clients feel heard and supported, which can be especially important when they are feeling vulnerable or overwhelmed.

In addition to building trust and rapport, empathy can also help lawyers be more effective in their roles. By understanding their clients’ needs and concerns, lawyers can better tailor their approach and provide the most appropriate legal advice and representation.

Overall, empathy is a crucial component of effective communication and a valuable skill for lawyers to cultivate when speaking to their clients. Also my data shows that videos, or any other marketing media, without empathy up front does not perform well.
