Building your Law Firm a Platform

Lawyers, you’d think going to law school and practicing law was enough, but if you’re following my content, you’re an entrepreneur who likely needs inspiration for growing and streamlining your practice.

What’s in This 3 Part Series?

  1. Facebook Ad Strategy when they’re urgent and ready to sign
  2. Facebook Ad Strategy for following up (for those on the fence)
  3. Facebook Ad Video Strategy because all video doesn’t work

What Will You Get in Today’s Post?

Today I’ll overview the 3 parts of this series, you’ll find out if Facebook Ads is right for your practice area, and we’ll go over the first strategy called “Urgent and Ready to Sign”.

Find out if Facebook Ads is Right for Your Practice Area

What is Your Practice Area? Not every strategy works for every practice area. Here’s what I mean:

My cousin dru (hi dru from California) is a Digital Health Care lawyer who helps app developers navigate worldwide laws. He split off from Latham Watkins as a partner to build his own practice. I built dru his beautiful website.

Dru’s practice area isn’t suited for Facebook Ads (sorry cuz). But the lawyers who follow my content probably are suited for Facebook Ads…

For successful Facebook Ads, practice areas where lots of people need your help are the easiest. But there are ways to bring in those who aren’t sure they need you (that will be the next post).

I’ve helped law firms with these practice areas get clients on Facebook:

  • Social Security disability benefits clients
  • Medical malpractice clients
  • Car accident cases
  • Criminal
  • Family
  • and more.

Here are 2 questions to ask yourself in order to discover if Facebook advertising is right for your law firm?

  • Are there a lot of people in your geographic area who need your services?
  • Is there a decent sized population in the geographic area where you want to bring in clients?

Because my cousin Dru, in the story above, would not be able to answer yes (as a digital healthcare lawyer) which means this strategy isn’t for him.

STRATEGY OVERVIEW

(A strategy for those urgent and ready to sign)
Your client’s mindset is what makes us need different strategies. I learned this the hard way. What works for Social Security Disability benefits is entirely different from Car Accident clients.

The kinds of practice areas that work with this strategy are when your clients are in an urgent situation, they know they need a lawyer and they’re pretty much ready to sign with you now. They just didn’t know about you, or were reminded of you, and there you are in front of them with your Facebook Ad.

Don’t Assume your Potential Client’s Mindset

But don’t assume that is your potential client’s mindset. I’ve made the mistake of thinking that a certain practice area will work with this strategy and it doesn’t.

What can go wrong if you make this mistake?

What this means time wise, is that you’ll be put back to the drawing board. Trying an approach that didn’t work can cost you money. And it can also bring you and your team down emotionally to have tried something that doesn’t work.

So it’s always best to understand the mindset of your potential clients. (Not your signed clients)

This is a cheaper, faster strategy (than the next post) here it is…

  • Use your Facebook Business Page.
  • Create one video and upload it to your business page.
  • Use the Facebook Ads Manager
  • Run your video ad continuously to a wide audience
  • Pay Facebook a small budget at first
  • Run the ad 24/7
  • Be ready to answer inquiries 24/7
  • I prefer Facebook Messaging ads

Collect and analyze the data

  • How long are they watching the video?
  • Are they reaching out to you?

If they’re reaching out (yay)

If they are reaching out to you, you don’t need to go further! Just push up your budget until you get the right cost per signed client.

What Happens if this Doesn’t Work?

What can also happen is that they’re watching the video for a long while, and they’re not reaching out, this tends to mean they’re interested, and need help, but also would highly benefit from powerful and consistent flow of follow up content.

This means your first ad was a testing ground for a more robust strategy.

This is where you’d move on to Strategy 2, which I will outline in the next post in this series. Strategy two is the more complicated strategy that tends to work with most practice areas that have a population of people who need your help. This is when your practice area has potential clients on the fence.

Let’s recap:

So how do you use Strategy one to sign clients on Facebook?

  • Write video scripts
  • Create a Business Page
  • Upload videos
  • Run ads to a wide geographic audience
  • I use Facebook Messenger
  • Run ads and respond to them 24/7
